Rhys Brown
Rhys Brown (1993) is a contemporary creative, born and raised in South London. Finding his inspiration from found objects and everyday observations, Rhys began his artistic practice as a young teenager, tagging his local streets and memorialising overheard conversations on the walls near where they’d taken place. Through formal art education and the passage of time, Rhys’ practice has evolved from graffiti to sculpture, printmaking, painting (including the development of his unique, self-described “vegan gyotaku” relief printing method) and other media. Rhys’ work has been sold and exhibited internationally, including in London, Paris, Seoul, and Taipei."

Born in South London and raised in Stockwell, Rhys began his artistic practice as a teenager doing graffiti, tagging the streets in and around the council estate where he grew up. His street work drew upon overheard conversations and his own stream of consciousness, incredibly creating a SAMO-style of poetry before Rhys had formally learned of Basquiat and the 1970s New York street scene.
